Much like fashion houses, many teddy makers bring out new collections every year, some of them in several parts. Older designs then make room for new ones, so the selection keeps changing.

Charlie Bears, for example, launch a new collection every year and release it in parts, and shops order the teddies well in advance. Steiff bring out new teddies and limited editions every year too.

When a new collection arrives, earlier designs gradually leave the makers' ranges. After that, a teddy can only be found where it is still on the shelf, which is part of what makes collecting exciting.
